At Aries Sports Center we offer both traditional and modern Martial Arts programs led by qualified instructors in their respective arts. We have teamed up with two local Martial Arts organizations to provide three key programs. These programs include Jiu Jitsu, Wushu San Da (Chinese Freestyle Kickboxing) and Wushu Taolu. An overview of the programs, and the respective schedules, are outlined below. 

Wushu: Taolu and San Da (Chinese Kickboxing)

Bermuda Sanshou Association
Wushu is modern day Chinese Kung Fu and consists of martial art patterns, acrobatic movements and techniques. Wushu will be featured in the next Youth Olympic Games! The official fighting art of Wushu is San Shou (San Da) which translates as “Chinese free style”. This is a full contact fighting art where punches, kicks, and throws are scored in competition. Our program introduces students to the sport of Chinese Kickboxing which has attracted many other Martial Artist due to its versatility and very structured competition rules. The curriculum is taught by the following coaches:

San Da – Garon Wilkinson, Cyril Whitter III, Che Beane, and Dirk Evelyn.
Taolu – Kaelin Cox and Jecoa Burrows

Fall Class Schedule – Effective from September 14, 2024

  • Youth Wushu: Taolu (Modern Kung Fu) 5 to 12
    • Tuesday at 4:45 PM until 5:45 PM – Coaches Jecoa and Kaelin
    • Friday at 4:45 PM until 5:45 PM – Coaches Jecoa and Kaelin

  • Youth Wushu: San Da (Chinese Kickboxing) 5 to 10
    • Thursday at 4:45 PM until 5:30 PM – Coach Che
    • Saturday at 10:15 AM until 11:00 AM – Coach Dirk
  • Youth Wushu: San Da (Chinese Kickboxing) 11 to 15
    • Thursday at 4:45 PM until 5:45 PM – Coach Cyril
    • Saturday at 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM – Coach Cyril
  • Teen & Adult Wushu: San Da (Chinese Kickboxing)
    • Tuesday at 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM – Coach Garon

Jiu Jitsu (Vee Arnis Jitsu)

JCB School of Survival Arts
Jiu Jitsu is defined as “the gentle art” and is a combative discipline applied to both armed and unarmed scenarios. JCB School of Survival Arts was founded by Dr Burnell Williams in the early 1970s, who was the student of the renowned Dr. Mosses Powell of the United States of America. Professor Alvin Lee is the Head of the school, with Shihan Kevin being the Head Instructor in Bermuda. Professor Lee began his teachings with Dr. Burnell Williams in the art of Sanuces,  continuing his education under the Supreme Grand Master – Professor Florendo M. Visitacion in the art of Vee-Arnis-Jitsu.

Sensei Cyril Whitter III, a 3rd Degree Black belt under Professor Lee, leads the Jiu Jitsu program at Aries Sports Center. Cyril also actively trains in Wushu San Da as well as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, having received his Blue Belt from Professor Roberto Carneiro of Bermuda Brazilian Jiujitsu. The JCB Jiu Jitsu curriculum is taught by the following instructors at Aries Sports Center:
